Seeking God Truthfully

watch your mouth

Luke 6:45 45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. Galatians 6:7 7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.

What comes out of your mouth is a direct result of what's in your heart. Have you ever said something hurtful in the heat of the moment? Do you gossip about others, and spread rumors that may or may not be true? Is there jealousy in your heart that you cannot be happy for someone else when they are being blessed. All these things are reflections of your heart.

CHECK YOUR HEART

If you see yourself already in these words, be quick to repent and pray this as King David did.

For us to move forward in our walk with Christ, we must make a choice to repent and then correct our behavior. Remember, there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, only sweet conviction that restores us back to Him.

Psalms 139:23-24 23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; 24 And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting. If you seek truth, and to want to know where your heart is, you can measure your progress by what comes out of your mouth.

CALL ON HIM IN TRUTH

Psalms 145:18-20 18 The LORD is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth. 19 He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He also will hear their cry and save them. 20 The LORD preserves all who love Him, But all the wicked He will destroy. 1 Chronicles 28:9 9 “As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a LOYAL HEART and with a WILLING MIND; for the LORD searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever. READ THAT AGAIN, PUT YOUR NAME IN SOLOMONS PLACE. Psalms 14:2 2 The LORD looks down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there are ANY who understand, who seek God. John 4:24 24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

Do you call upon the name of the Lord in truth?

Or do you have ulterior motives?

Do you call upon His name with reverence and honor?

Or do you go to him whining and complaining?

Are you growing spiritually as a man or woman of God, desiring the meat of His word and longing to be useful in His kingdom and prosper in all areas of life?

Or are you still acting like a baby, wanting to be spoon-fed and taking a bottle?

There comes a time when each of us need to examine ourselves and our relationship with God. If our desire isn't to bring him glory and honor in everything we do, then it's time to reevaluate what matters in our lives. God cares about the desires of our heart, but if we are not seeking Him in Sprit and in truth, then we are doing ourselves a disservice.

I encourage you to be seekers of truth, allowing God to correct you where you need it, and above all things be thankful and love one another.

John 15:12-14 12 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. 14 You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.

PRAYER Thank you Lord that you love us enough to correct us. Give us humble hearts to receive truth and allow the good fruit of your word to become real in our lives as we choose to obey and change. I pray that our eyes and ears be open that we may begin to walk in your truth and look like and act like Jesus! Amen
