I Can't Fix You

My oldest son, Kort wrote a song a few years ago titled, "I Can't Fix You." The song is about loving somebody so much but there are major issues you can't fix. How many of you can relate to that?

To all you "fixers" reading this, there comes a time when you have to let go and let God. There are genuinely situations you cannot fix on your own. To tell the truth, you might even be in Gods way, if you're trying to do it on your own. Until you make the choice to get out of the way, and let the Lord intervene, nothing will change because you're trying to play God. You can't change your husband, you can't change your wife, you can't fix your kids, etc. etc. etc.

But, GOD can do miracles.

The Lord gave me a dream several years ago. I was standing on the bank of a muddy river that was overflowing and the current was strong. In the river, there were baby calves being swept away. I reached out and took hold of the leg of one of the calves trying to save it, but the current was so strong that I fell on my knees and was about to be pulled in. At that moment my husband who was standing beside me reached down and grabbed my arm and said, "LET GO!" When I awoke, I was disturbed in my spirit so I knew the Lord was trying to speak to me. I asked Him what the dream meant. My husband represented the Lord in the dream. He was the one telling me to let go. He told me it was alright to try to reach out and help those who need it but there comes a time when you have to LET GO, or they are going to drag you down with them. Our job is to love them and pray, then get out-of-the-way. In other words turn them over to The Lord . 2 Timothy 2:24-26

24 And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient,

25 in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth,

26 and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will. Philippians 1:6 6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; 2 Chronicles 20:15-17 15 And he said, “Listen, all you of Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the Lord to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.

16 Tomorrow go down against them. They will surely come up by the Ascent of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the brook before the Wilderness of Jeruel.

17 You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you.”

Learn to Let Go

At this point, many of you may be wondering to do in this situation? How do you let go, even when you're heart could very well be in the right place?

1. Pray and ask God to grant them repentance or grant you repentance. Perhaps it's you that needs to be fixed and you don't know it. 2. Trust that what the Lord began in you or them, He is faithful to complete it. 3. It's the Lord's battle, not yours and He has already won it! Take a deep breath and let go, and watch him do wonders.

Prayer Lord, I know that we are all a work in progress. I see that at times, I have been in your way because I have refused to let go and tried to fix things myself. I see that I have prolonged the miracle that I've been praying for because I won't get out of Your way. Forgive me Lord for my fear and doubt regarding this person/situation. I have not trusted you to fix it, or that you would intervene. I have been afraid because I would no longer be in control. I now see that my actions are the problem. Lord I release my control of this situation right now. I turn it over to You. Have Your way, I release this burden over to You, and ask that You take it now.

In Jesus' name, Amen
