Indignation

October 14, 2017

Indignation:
1. A feeling of righteous anger
2. Anger caused by something that is unfair or wrong

"There is a time when it's okay to be angry."

That being said, most of our anger is reactionary, fear-based, and a result of our flesh. This would be considered the “wrath of man”, not to be confused with the holy righteous anger of God.

The truth is, we should see more righteous anger than we do. If God is angered by sin, then we should be angered by it as well. Now, that doesn't give you a free pass to go around pointing out people's flaws, or condemning them. As that old saying goes, "love the person, hate the sin".

That being said, our culture of tolerance is very much like that of the saints in Corinth. We seem to be more willing to accommodate sin than to condemn it, and to remove it from our midst.

For you to fully grasp the rest of this devotion, it's important that you read 1 Corinthians 5.

Discipl(in)e

Discipline:

1. The practice of training (someone) to obey rules or a code of behavior, using punishment to correct disobedience.

All too often, I see parents—Christian parents—who think the sinful actions and attitudes of their children are "cute", rather than to be angered by it and to deal with it as God would have us do.

Proverbs 13:24

24 He who spares his rod hates his son, But he who loves him disciplines him promptly.

Proverbs 22:15

15 Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; The rod of correction will drive it far from him.

Proverbs 23:13-14

13 Do not withhold correction from a child, for if you beat him with a rod, he will not die.

14 You shall beat him with a rod, and deliver his soul from hell.

As a culture, we are not angered by rebellion, irate over injustices, distressed by abortions, or sexual immorality and sin. In all honesty, we have turned a blind eye and become "soft" on sin.

"When we see sin as God does, it should make us angry."

Politically unCorrect

You also should be wary of political correctness. I'm telling you, this is the spirit of the antichrist looking us in the face and laughing. We have bowed to the politically correct agenda, and not stood up for what is right for far too long. As a result, we've seen our freedoms and morality as a nation become perverted. We have been cowards in the body of Christ because we would not be confrontational. Why?  Because of the fear of man which gods word says brings a snare.

Proverbs 29:25

25 The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe.

This should build up a righteous anger within you to proclaim and stand for the Word of God, rather than keeping quiet and refusing to offend anyone.

"The truth is offensive! That's why it sets us free!"

We have become afraid to offend somebody with the Word of God.  So many Christians think that if they were to stand up for what's right, they might lose friends or be shunned.  They are afraid of what people might say or think about us. To that I say, read the following verse:

Romans 8:38

38 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

unPopular Opinion(s)

We are afraid to discipline our children the way God has instructed to. This isn't a popular opinion in today's world, but it is vital to your child's future that you do so.  Spank your children when they disobey or rebel, teach them right from wrong, and you - as their parents - must lead by example

We don't stand up to the homosexual and transgender agenda for imposing their perverted way of life on us. Every day, there is a new television show, news report, or propaganda campaign claiming that we have to accept their immoral life style and bend over backwards to meet their demands.

"It's not normal. It's not ok, and we cannot stand for it any longer."

Take the Lord Jesus as our example, he was not afraid to be bold and offensive. He called the pharisees out on their sins, calling them "brood of vipers, hypocrites, murders, thieves". At one point, He was so filled with indignation, and righteous anger that He flipped over tables and ran the moneychangers out of the temple with a bullwhip. And don't you dare think he wasn't popping some of them on their backside as they ran out!

It's time for the Body of Christ to RISE UP! We need men and women of valor, who will stand up for righteousness and what is good, pure and just.

Above All: LOVE

1 Peter 4:8

Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.

Please do not think that this means you can attack, slander or humiliate someone out of spite. We are meant to do all things in love.  However, we cannot sit idly by and continue to watch our nation turn into Sodom and Gomorrah. It's our job as the children of God to speak truth, stand for what is right, and proclaim the Glory of the Lord.

When you see something that stirs indignation within you, pray about it and ask the Lord how He would have you deal with the situation.  Ultimately, we want everyone to get set free and fall madly in love with Jesus. But it's not our job to force it down their throats. Only the Holy Spirit drawing them in can do that. This devotional is meant to stir a righteous anger within you, so that you are prepared for when backlash against the Word of God comes your way. By no means, is it meant to stir up your fleshly anger and send you out on a vigilante rampage. I pray the Holy Spirit show s you the difference.

"May God give you wisdom in your prayers and your actions."

PRAYER

Father, I see that there are things in our world today that displease, and anger you. Give me the wisdom and insight on how to stand up for Your Word and Your truth. Help prevent my flesh from rising up in these situations. I ask that you show me how to react in love, not in my fleshly anger. I thank you that you are turning American back to You. You are stopping the work of the enemy in our midst, and changing the hearts of the people. You are a good, good father. You are love and only have love for your children. Teach me to hate sin as you do, but also teach me to separate the person from their sin.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.
